CMST Tuning

OEM / ODM

Tooled to your drawing

CMST develops and tools custom parts across the whole exterior range and the forged wheel line — from a minimum of one piece. The part is trial-fitted on the actual car before any tooling money is committed, which is the stage where a fit problem is still cheap to fix.

Eight stages, and one of them is the whole point

This is the sequence a custom carbon fiber part goes through. Stage four is the one worth reading twice.

  1. 01

    3D design

The part is built in CAD against the vehicle's own body surface.

  2. 02

    Drawing sign-off

Drawings go back to you for approval before anything is cut.

  3. 03

    3D-printed master

A full-size master is printed from the signed-off drawing.

  4. 04

Trial fit on the actual car

The master is bolted to a real vehicle. Panel gaps, mounting points and clearances are checked on the car, not on screen — and this happens before any tooling is paid for.

  5. 05

    Master corrected and finalized

Whatever the trial fit exposes is corrected on the master, then re-checked.

  6. 06

    Mold cut

The mold is cut from the finalized master. This is the first irreversible spend in the whole sequence.

  7. 07

    Production sample

A sample is run off the finished mold and inspected against the written surface standard.

  8. 08

Sample shipped for a fit check

The sample goes to you and is fitted before the batch runs.

Stages 04 and 08 are two separate fit checks — one before the mold exists, one before the batch does. Most of what goes wrong with aftermarket aero goes wrong at fitment, and this is where it gets caught.

What custom work actually costs you in time and volume

The numbers that are fixed are here. Price is quoted per project, because it moves with the part, the material grade and the tooling involved.

What can be custom

All carbon fiber exterior parts, and forged wheels

Minimum order

One piece

Four for wheels. A custom project does not have to start as a container.

Lead time — carbon fiber parts

7–20 days

Confirmed against the production schedule when the order is confirmed; in peak season the schedule extends and CMST flags it before the order is placed, never after.

Lead time — forged wheels

Monoblock 15–25 days · two-piece 25–35 days

Electroplating adds five days, carbon wrapping adds ten.

Warranty on the finished part

Carbon fiber three months from the date fitted · forged wheels five years

Full terms, including what is and is not covered, are on the warranty page.

Not only body panels

Three parts CMST tooled from nothing, each on a different mold system. They are here as evidence of range, not as a catalog — none of them is a stock line you can order from a page.

  • A CMST carbon ceramic brake disc in a fitted CMST hard case

    Carbon ceramic brake disc

A rotating, load-bearing, heat-cycled part — a different problem from an exterior panel, and it ships in a fitted CMST case.

  • A CMST carbon fiber motorcycle component on white

    Motorcycle carbon components

A different vehicle class entirely, which means a mold system built from scratch rather than adapted.

  • A carbon fiber basin molded by CMST, showing a compound curve and iridescent finish

    Large curved carbon structures

A single continuous compound curve with a finished surface on both sides — the hardest thing to lay up by hand.

None of these is on the site as a product line — they are shown here only to say what the tooling side can take on. If the part you need is not a car panel, ask.

Packaging as the anti-copy measure

The problem a distributor actually raises is not tooling. It is that once a kit sells, copies of it appear — and a copy on a workbench looks like the original.

CMST's answer is the packaging rather than the part: orders ship in CMST-branded export packaging with a product label and a parts pack, so a customer can tell an original from a copy at first opening. This is what CMST's longest-running distributor relationship — twelve years in Thailand, carbon exterior parts and forged wheels — asked for and got.

Where a private-label arrangement is wanted instead, packaging and labelling are agreed as part of the appointment rather than assumed. Raise it with the enquiry.

Send the drawing, or send the car

A chassis code and a description are enough to start. If there is a drawing or a 3D file, send it — if there is not, CMST scans the body surface and builds one.
